Hegseth: “President Trump directed the most complex and secretive military operation in history, and it was a resounding success resulting in a ceasefire agreement and the end of the 12-day war.”

"...complex and secretive military operation in history..."

Are you kidding me? That's off-the-charts exaggeration. I guess our Sec of Defense never heard of D-Day.

But then he was playing for that important audience of one: the man with the monster ego, our narcissist-in-chief.

That's off-the-charts exaggeration.

My opinion is that the mission was well planned and well executed. In a rare good move, Trump mostly played his role, telling the lie that he’d decide on an action in two weeks. Of course, he hinted at way too much in online posts. Fortunately, the diversionary flight of B2s made it look like the attack would happen in a couple of days - after a stop in Guam and/or Diego Garcia.

But the bigger question is whether the mission should have been undertaken at all. I’ll leave that discussion for a different thread.

Hegseth, befitting his background as a Fox News himbo hype man, gave a press conference in which he called the bombing “the most complex and successful military operation in history.” Step aside, evacuation of Dunkirk: Compared to dropping bombs on three targets in a country with no air defenses to speak of, you are garbage. But yeah, saying these kinds of ludicrous things is now the most important job requirement for being in the Cabinet. Slate

“the most complex and successful military operation in history.”

Certainly more complex and successful than the D-Day landing, right? How about the Battle of Midway? No? I know, Operation Entebbe and the Yom Kippur War. Going further back in history (since that is the claim), this was much more complex and successful than Hannibal's Battle of Cannae and Alexander's campaign at Gaugamela.

No, no, no. Nothing compares to Trump's glorious victory and nothing will ever surpass it. His Orange Rotundity has no equal!

What a groveling kiss-ass Kegseth is.

the most complex and successful military operation in history.”

Anyone else reminded of the effusive, over the top praise heaped by North Korean propagandists on the shoulders of Dear Leader?

Or back in the day- by Chinese propagandists on Mao?

I thought Adolf Hitler owned the title of “most brilliant military strategist”.

There’s a common thread here….

If America was actually awake, it would rise up and toss out these incompetent toy soldiers playing “Risk” with the lives of Americans (and the rest of the world)

Forgetting D-Day?

But let's assume Hegseth has zero knowledge of any history prior to the last month. Still, the Israeli air force operation to guarantee air superiority over Iran in ten days, and make the B2 bombing mission a cakewalk, was much more complex and impressive. Iran is out of normal range for every Israeli F16 and F35. They had to conduct hundreds of midair refueling operations with a few ancient Boeing 707s, every day for ten days, and every one of those planes returned home safely.
