So how "normal" is it for a president to be appointing his seventh I.R.S. commissioner in about as many months?

Not very.

Mr. Long had been an unusual choice to lead the I.R.S. He did not have much background in tax policy beyond promoting a tax credit that the I.R.S. has warned was riddled with fraud, and while he was in Congress he supported legislation calling for the abolition of the agency entirely.

Over his short tenure at the tax agency, Mr. Long, a former auctioneer, traveled to meet with I.R.S. staff across the country and appeared at a National Auction Association conference. He placed two top I.R.S. officials on administrative leave, amplifying a post on social media about the need to “purge” the agency’s work force.

He let I.R.S. employees go home early today, telling them yesterday to: “Please enjoy a 70-minute early exit tomorrow. That way you’ll be rested for my 70th birthday on Monday!”

I dunno. This guy seems perfect for the Trump administration: no experience, incompetent, promotes fraud, and thinks the agency he leads should be abolished.

Guess he didn't kiss that big orange ass often enough.

And he is being given the ambassadorship of Iceland.

What did Iceland ever do to us? I hope they serve him hákarl at every state function, and tell him it would be an insult to refuse it.

Sadly, Hákarl is made from the meat of Greenland sharks, which are quite remarkable in their own right:

Greenland sharks have the longest lifespan of any known vertebrate, estimated to be between 250 and 500 years.[4] They are among the largest extant shark species, reaching a maximum confirmed length of 6.4 m (21 ft) long and weighing over 1,000 kg (2,200 lb). They reach sexual maturity at about 150 years of age, and their pups are born alive after an estimated gestation period of 8 to 18 years.[5] The shark is a generalist feeder, consuming a variety of available foods, including carrion.[6]

What did Iceland ever do to us?

They could do us all a favor. Have him "slip and fall" into an active volcano. Win-Win.
