Have you read their Homepage https://substack.com/ and in particular Substack basics near the bottom?

Shamefacedly.....no! I've seen mention of it a lot lately, and saw notice elsewhere of a piece I'm curious to read, and just the first paragraph or so was available. Why it didn't occur to me to search Substack itself for information, I don't know.
