Somewhere deep down, especially if they actually drive a motor vehicle, and aren't themselves terrible drivers (as Ms. Good obviously was--any driver knows you don't keep driving if a cop is standing in front of your vehicle, regardless of your political POV--and if you attempt to "drive around" the LEO to evade the LEO, you are taking a huge and unnecessary risk of injuring that person if you "miscalculate")--they know how dang stupid Ms. Good's behavior was, and that of her partner.
And they possibly tell themselves like, "Damn, why are the people on our side so darn stupid?"
And then they start thinking, "If the people on our side are so darn stupid, maybe they're wrong."
And then they start thinking, "If the people on my side are stupid, and wrong, is it just possible that I'm stupid, or wrong, or both?"
And they can't stand the cognitive dissonance.
