Wiltonknight, I know this is somewhat performative - but I really don't understand the point.
All the "liberals" you're putatively addressing this to are constantly trying to explain to conservatives that the Democrats aren't wild-eyed extreme zealots dedicated to replacing American enterprise with an absurd radical agenda. We're always trying to tell you that the Democratic party is a coalition, and generally lands in a center-left position on most issues, rather than extreme dogmatic purity.
This is no more a revelation than Republicans discovering that a big chunk of their party doesn't want to eliminate Social Security, no matter what Grover Norquist thinks.
There are some "movement progressives" who constantly rail against that fact, who long for a party that would advocate for their pure vision of a progressive utopia. But that's never been the Democratic party, writ large. No one reading your words here ever thought it was, and (I expect) none of the people reading your words here ever really wanted it to be.
So....who is this stuff for? Is it just for the conservatives on this board, who (falsely) believe that all Democrats are radical purists and thus (wrongly) think its hypocritical when Democrats actually don't act like radical purists? Or are you trying to make a point to anyone else here?
