Federal authorities reopened the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas on Wednesday after abruptly announcing a 10-day closure that would divert flights from the major airport on the United States-Mexico border.

An order from the Federal Aviation Administration at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday designated the area around the airport as national defense airspace.

The reason why? Drones from Mexican cartels.

that Mexican cartel drones were behind the temporary El Paso airspace closure:

“Mexican cartel drones breached US airspace. The Dept. of War took action to disable the drones. The FAA and DOW have determined there is no threat to commercial travel."

This is hilarious: it was a f*cking party balloon.

C.B.P. officials thought they were firing on a cartel drone, the people said, but it turned out to be a party balloon.

The entire operation was carried out without proper coordination with the F.A.A. And when they were caught being complete morons, the first thing they did was LIE ABOUT IT.

But sure, hire a Fox News guy to be your secretary of defense because he looks good on television.
