I mean, look at the U.S. Since 1970, we've added 130 million people - more than an 50% increase in our population. Yet in most aspects, the environment is better than it was back then...

I like your optimism; wish I shared it. But, with what I've been witnessing on the ocean day in/day out for decades, I can't.

Articles I read on pollution in the GoM aren't quite so optimistic. And then there's the whole enchilada:
