First clue was Trump, in his statement, saying words to the effect the perp was funny in the head. First clue that the perp was not a Muslim or "illegal".

Name and pic later released. Guy looks white. Curly, light brown, hair. Name Cole Tomas Allen. Yup. Probably not Muslim, nor Hispanic "illegal". Therefore a "disturbed individual", rather that one of the ethnic groups Trump the God has been heaping hate on.

Torrence is in LA County. LA County voted 64.8% for Harris.

More will be revealed in coming days. He could be a violently disaffected MAGA, of which there are quite a few now, but the vote in LA County argues against that. How the regime spins it will be interesting.

Whatever happens, I hope he isn't sentenced to a rubber room, with weekends off, like Hinckley. I don't care if he's funny in the head. Hinckley should never be allowed out of prison, for any length of time. Trivia note, the shooting tonight was at the same hotel where Hinckley shot Reagan.

Just another day in the shittiest timeline possible. The guy did not look "pure white" to me. More like a light skinned black man. Mechanical engineer, teacher, and was recently awarded "teacher of the year". Surely, he'll be branded "woke" in a nanosecond by the right. Amusingly, this morning, I heard they were waiting on a search warrant from a judge before seizing the guy's phones, etc. But no search warrants needed to apprehend "illegals".

Of course, Trump just HAD to mention his precious ballroom during his remarks post-incident.

A (very) little more about the guy - Cole Tomas Allen

Cole Tomas Allen: Who is the alleged correspondents’ dinner gunman?

The award-winning teacher, aged 31 and from Torrance in California, was arrested after shots were fired at the event at the Washington Hilton hotel

Cole Allen, a game developer and teacher, was listed as a computer science graduate in the 2025 commencement program at California State University

There's an image of him in his cap and gown.

Said this after the first two attempts in Trump and it went on deaf ears, but it merits a third time:

The left has supercharged political rhetoric with the constant fascist Hitler racist genocide pedo and a million other things.

Rather than engage in policy debates we get rhetoric that’s supercharging a collection of people who are already prone to higher rates of mental illness.

This is the third time (that we know about). When is enough, enough?

I suspect never.

Today’s Republican Party displays the classic attributes of fascism. (Nazis)

Today’s Republican Party is doing all it can to deep-six the Epstein Files. (pedophilia)

Today’s Republican Party is just fine with Trump threatening the destruction of an entire civilization (genocide)

The only thing the Republican Party is good for these days is providing cover for Donald Trump- and introducing vanity bills in Congress to build monuments to his ego.

From RedState:

This isn't the effort of an individual. It's the work of a system that continues to pump out apocalyptic propaganda about a man who, while flawed, is hardly the demon they're making him out to be. This isn't just one crazy guy; this is the work of major networks and one major party fueling the insanity and then giving little winks and nudges in hopes that someone will take on the responsibility.

This isn't just one man. It's the left.

This isn't a lone wolf attack. It's a concerted effort that only looks hands-off, but rest assured, the blood is still on their hands.

This type of violence is happening in schools across the country every single day...

Guns are the leading cause of death for children in the United States.
It's important to note that no other country in the world has firearms listed among the top four causes of child mortality.

The latest:
"5 wounded by gunfire in stable condition after Kirkwood shooting; no suspects in custody"
https://www.idsnews.com/article/2026/04/breaking-s...

Relax....

Your culture - is great.

It had no negative effect on households.

You have very few people in America who are desperate and angry and willing to cling to any movement that pretends to speak to them.

Multicultural Run Amok didn't motivate anything bad.

Digital Culture didn't make it easier for the tribes to remain in echo chambers.

Free trade helped everyone so much. A bunch of ex middle class people didn't go to work and Walmart.

Whoever spent decades warning of these things----was wrong.

As far as the Nazi comparisons? Relax - -it's not like your country elected it, and re-elected it. And it's not like a plurality of your country still support it.

Oh, Europe and Canada: Cutting regulations, jacking up defense spending---what is Reagan in charge?

Boom. I'm winning. Now I'm calling in a new round of punishment.

Phase 2 is on........

(I wonder if debt and entitlements will be weapons....;)

I read the first quarter of the manifesto. Not your typical having lunatic stuff.

Honestly, the guy seems very rational and dare I say compassionate, apologizing for hurting anyone he wasn't directly targeting and going so far as to use buckshot instead of slugs to minimize the possibility of accidental casualties caused by bullets going through walls.

As for his motives:

What my representatives do reflects on me.
And I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.
(Well, to be completely honest, I was no longer willing a long time ago, but this is the first real opportunity I’ve had to do something about it.)

He almost sounds like he voted for Trump and had become disillusioned like so many other former MAGA diehards have been doing lately <cough>Tucker Carlson</cough>.

Of course though, clearly something snapped, since 99.9999% of people who think Trump is destroying America wouldn't ever try to kill him and those associated with him. So, in that respect he is ultimately a nutjob.

Unfortunately, it goes both ways.

Man charged with killing a top Minnesota House Democrat pleads not guilty

MINNEAPOLISAP — The man charged with killing the top Democrat in the Minnesota House and her husband, and wounding a state senator and his wife, pleaded not guilty Thursday in federal court.

Boelter’s motivations remain murky. Friends have described him as an evangelical Christian with politically conservative views who had been struggling to find work. Authorities said Boelter made long lists of politicians in Minnesota and other states — all or mostly Democrats.

In messages published earlier by the New York Post, Boelter insisted the shootings had nothing to do with his opposition to abortion or his support for President Donald Trump, but he declined to elaborate.

Give it a few years unopposed.

That's what was said during Bush's first term.
And his second.
And during Trump's first term.

This nonsense is like the global warming stuff: it's always sometime in the future, but when the future arrives and the predicted catastrophe never happens, the goal posts get moved on out again.

Enough already. If Trump were what the left says he is, they'd all be rotting in jail. Or deported. Or worse.

But since...literally none of that has happened, and in fact none other than al schooled you all on how Trump actually follows court orders (unlike his predecessor) we can safely conclude that the accusation is wrong.

If only we had a secure place to do big events with the entire line of succession of the US Government present…

Not sure how that's relevant. We have - or had - a secure place to do big events that are hosted by the U.S. Government. The White House has/had facilities like that. But that's public property. Events like the WHCA Dinner aren't held at the White House - they're held on private property. And always will be, because they're events sponsored by a private party.

The issue for the President isn't that the White House grounds aren't adequately secured. It's that the President, of course, has to attend events and functions and meetings that are outside the White House.

Moats and high walls were constructed by medieval aristocracy to protect them from their subjects from whom they had stolen.

Let’s make sure our aristocratic prince is adequately shielded. Perhaps the Kremlin can serve as a model.

I was thinking more a loyal German in the early/mid-1930s. Duped until it was too late.

As a matter of data, Republicans are more likely to own firearms than Democrats by more than 2:1. So any shooter is -statistically- more likely to be Republican. Right-wing extremists are more likely to be mass shooters than left-wing extremists, of those that have any identifiable political affiliation.

It was intuitively obvious, but I looked it up anyway to be sure.

Six of the seven presidents killed or wounded in assassination attempts were Republicans. Why do Democrats always resort to political violence?

“Four sitting U.S. presidents have been killed: Abraham Lincoln (1865), James A. Garfield (1881), William McKinley (1901), and John F. Kennedy (1963). Ronald Reagan (1981) is the only sitting president to have been wounded in an assassination attempt and survive. Theodore Roosevelt (1912) was wounded in an assassination attempt as a former president, Donald Trump”

Somehow I think if we want to have the entire line of succession to the government in one place that there is a vested interest in hosting the event someplace that's more secure than a hotel.

The anti-ballroom lawsuits were always silly, and in light of Saturday they look even worse.

Perhaps the entire line of succession to the government shouldn't all go to the same party if it's not being hosted in a government building.

It's a private event, hosted by a private party. It's never going to be held on WH grounds, so it doesn't matter if there's a new ballroom on WH grounds or not. Nor is there any evidence that a more secure ballroom on WH grounds is necessary. If you have an event at a hotel, then you can't control who has access to the overall property (like hotel guests) or whether they bring firearms on property - but with the actual WH, you do have that control.

The anti-ballroom lawsuits were always silly, and in light of Saturday they look even worse.

They're not silly. The President doesn't have the power to decide to build buildings on government property without Congressional approval. It's a core question of authority under the Constitution.

Nothing that happened on Saturday affects that, because - again - the President constantly has to attend functions and events that are off White House property, and functions and events on White House property were already completely safe from these kinds of threats because they are in a much more controlled and secured environment. Completely unrelated.

When asked on CNN's "State of the Union" by Dana Bash whether he and other Democrats should reconsider heated, inflammatory language toward Trump, Raskin responded, "What rhetoric do you have in mind?" before adding that he criticizes administration policies rather than making personal attacks.

Yeah, okay.
Gaslighting it is, then.

You're right, they're really stupid instead. The only reason the ballroom is being blocked is because Trump is doing it. Had this been Obama building a giant thing shaped like an 'O' the left would be cheering it. No one who's doing the suing cares 1 iota about the Constitution.

Oh, I think that will be different going forward.

No, it won't. The WH is public property, not a hotel ballroom.

Look, the President goes to events and functions and meetings and conferences outside of the WH. That's a reality. It's not going to change. His protective detail has to secure areas that aren't the WH, and always will have to.

The Ballroom is completely unrelated to that issue. Again, the WH grounds can be secured already against these kinds of threats because it's a government facility. The property isn't open to the public, you don't have uncontrolled access to the buildings, etc. Nothing in the Ballroom is needed to protect against this kind of threat.

The only reason the ballroom is being blocked is because Trump is doing it. Had this been Obama building a giant thing shaped like an 'O' the left would be cheering it.

And if Obama had been doing the ballroom, the right would have been suing him eight ways from Sunday and screaming about how he was violating the Constitution. It's one of the core truths of politics, namely that partisans will frequently support behavior done by their own "team" that they would condemn bitterly if done by the other "team" - and vice versa.

All we mere mortals can do is look at whether the substance of the criticism is correct. In this case, it is. There is no federal statute that authorizes the President to do this. In the absence of Congress making a law that provides for this type of activity, the President doesn't have the ability to do it. It's the core structure of our government - other than certain specific constitutional powers not relevant here, the President's role is to execute the laws passed by Congress. He gets to implement what Congress has done, not make his own laws or further his own priorities outside of that statutory authorization.

Is some left wing group going to sue to stop that?

And if Obama had been doing the ballroom, the right would have been suing him eight ways from Sunday and screaming about how he was violating the Constitution.

Only if the building was ugly. As we can see from his choice of architecture in his Brutalist library in Chicago the man has no flair for building design. Couple that with Obama's Mt. Everest sized ego and he probably would have erected a giant 'O' on the White House grounds taller than the Washington Monument.

No, but it's not something the President is going to host. It's a private party that the President is invited to, not an event that the government is sponsoring. I can't imagine that any of the folks involved want to deal with the logistics that go with moving the event into the actual WH.

Only if the building was ugly.

Nope. If this was Obama, the right would be suing and screaming and talking about how he was violating the Constitution all day long.

Again, it's literally one of the most common things in politics - supporting stuff your "team" does when you would bitterly criticize it if the other "team" did it, and vice versa.

So you need to step back and look at the substance, rather than looking at whether one side is being hypocritical or not (hint: they both are, all the time, in these cases). Here, there doesn't seem to be any justification for the President having the authority to do this. It's not one of his inherent Constitutional powers, and there's no statute authorizing him to build buildings on federal property just because he decides to. That's Congress' call, not his.

Obama's library is objectively ugly. Seriously.

And his ego? If anything, I *undersold it*.

Someday the left on this board will understand that multiple things can be true at one time. In this case, Barack Obama's taste in architecture is horrid and his ego is mammoth. Those are objectively true facts that can exist in parallel with whatever you believe about Trump.

Maybe? I don't know.

The standard for getting a preliminary injunction isn't a slam dunk. And for good reason - you're asking the court to impose a sanction/obligation on the other party even before you or they have made your full arguments. You have to prove irreparable harm (some exceptions not relevant here), some circumstances that make it necessary for the court to step in before it has actually decided who should win.

I'm not sure that's going to be met, here. It's usually pretty easy to meet that standard to prevent something from being destroyed, of course. But the existing building's already been destroyed. Anything new that gets built can be demolished and removed. The government will always retain the ability to return things to the status quo ante if they lose. If the government is willing to take the risk that they might lose and have to remove everything, the courts might simply let them do so.

Farce!

Having lunch at Tim's today, I saw the "breaking news" of the charges made against the perp. None of them involve "terrorism".

There is no doubt about the perp's guilt, because he was caught in the act.

There is no doubt about premeditation, because his weeks long planning proves it.

There is no doubt about a political objective, because of his own writings.

He belongs in the deepest, darkest, hole the Bureau of Prisons has, for life. The one count of an attempt on the life of the POTUS can bring a life sentence. A "terrorist" charge would apply to an attempt on any number of civilians, of which the room was packed, and would bring life in the jug, or death.

But no. He isn't a Muslim. So, no "terrorist" charge.

The guy who attacked the Synagogue in metro Detroit, some weeks ago, was a Muslim, so was immediately tagged as a "terrorist". Then it came to light several of his family members had been killed by an Israeli air strike, which breaths life into a "temporary insanity" defense. Then, it was claimed, one of the family members killed, was a "Hezbollah commander", restoring the "terrorist" claim.

I had hoped that charge discrimination based on religion was a thing of the past, after Dylann Roof gunned down a bunch of people, because of their race, in accordance with his white supremacist writings, but, apparently not. Only Muslims can be terrorists.

Replying to Banksy
This type of violence is happening in schools across the country every single day...

Guns are the leading cause of death for children in the United States.
It's important to note that no other country in the world has firearms listed among the top four causes of child mortality.

The latest:
"5 wounded by gunfire in stable condition after Kirkwood shooting; no suspects in custody"
https://www.idsnews.com/article/2026/04/breaking-s...

It's the guns.

************

Well then you progressives have a huge problem. A hugely disproportionate amount of gun violence is caused by Blacks. Far out of proportion to their percentage of the overall population. This would include "school violence."

And, as we all know, progressive rhetoric tells us that any laws or regulations which disproportionately impacts Blacks, is, by definition, racist.

Tougher gun laws, tougher enforcement of gun laws, will fall most heavily on Blacks.

Which is why big city leftist mayors don't like cops and don't want the laws enforced.

Because, by definition, those laws are racist-at least, according to you numbskulls.
