Neither description quite fits, does it?
"The Purge" was a movie where the population was set against itself while what Trump is describing is state-sponsored wide-spread violence against its citizens.
And Kristallnacht was a wave of violent anti-Jewish pogroms which took place on November 9 and 10, 1938.
But then, like they say, history doesn't repeat itself but it rhymes.
DonOLD Trump in Pennsylvania on Sunday formalized his plans for violence against Americans by calling for
“one extraordinarily rough, one really rough nasty day. One rough hour” to reduce crime, which Trump falsely claimed is rising in America (factual note: crime is significantly lower and crime rates are falling).
With his history of calling for looters to be shot, his political opponents to be executed, and his repeated admiration for nearly every dictator on the planet, it's not all that hard to imagine what "one really violent day" would mean.
So how is this presidential race close?
Oh yeah: it's a cult.
