VERY big deal. Neutering Hezbollah removes another layer of Iranian power projection.Alas, I wish it was a big deal. But Aoun has been saying stuff like this for more than the last year. Sadly, it's not really his call -
Hezbollah is going to choose whether or not they will give up their military activities, not Aoun:
Since his election in January, Aoun has made his policy to disarm Hezbollah clear. However, the Lebanese president has also been sensitive to the terminology he uses in this regard. Aoun has avoided words like “disarmament” and used instead “state monopoly of arms”. The president has gone out of his way to show as much deference and respect to Hezbollah as possible, avoiding spite and provocation while hanging tight to the end goal: transforming Hezbollah from a militia into a political party.
Qassem’s response, however, has proven what many Lebanese have been saying for a long time: the problem with disarming Hezbollah is not one of style but of content. The militia will never voluntarily surrender its arsenal. And judging by Qassem’s comments, Hezbollah has no problem warring with the national army, a war that Aoun has gone out of his way to say that the state wants to avoid.https://www.fdd.org/analysis/op_eds/2025/04/22/hez...

Right. Hezbollah, like Hamas, like Iran, like all radical Islamist lunatics, will never compromise, will never stop making war on the West.
Fuck 'em.
Kill 'em all.
Go TRUMP.

Lebanese President Aoun tells the Quintet (the US, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Qatar) that the decision to ban Hezbollah is final.
Hezbollah appears to have more soldiers than the Lebanese army. Besides, the people he needs to convince are the people running the "Greater Israel" project in Jerusalem.
So, with the Ford running offshore Israel, how long before Israel demands the Ford's air wing provide cover for their invasion of Lebanon?

So, with the Ford running offshore Israel, how long before Israel demands the Ford's air wing provide cover for their invasion of Lebanon? When I wrote that, earlier this evening, I had not seen the evening news, as I had been at a historical lecture in Dearborn.
I did catch the late news however, and saw this reported.
Lindsey Graham urges Trump to join Israeli strikes on Lebanon’s Hezbollah
WASHINGTON — Republican US Senator Lindsey Graham calls on US President Donald Trump to join Israel in striking Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“Fly with Israel and go after Hezbollah, which has American blood on its hands. Not only take the mothership of Iran. Also take the proxy of Hezbollah,” Graham tells reporters on Capitol Hill.https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/linds...Hey MAGA, did you vote for the US to be Israel's b!tch, regardless of the cost to us in blood and treasure?
