And I’ll bet not one of the above celebrated our Independence Day yesterday, the Forth of July.

I read the Declaration of Independence aloud to gathered family and we had some discussion about how several of the grievances of the colonists against King George in 1776 are uncannily paralleled by grievances today against this administration.

You should read it sometime, if you haven’t already.


Later in the afternoon we had a wonderful time at the lake- beer brats on the grill with sauteed onions and all the fixins, and home cooked baked beans with my wife’s potato salad.

Fireworks were provided by other residents around the lake….had it been 30 years ago, I would have been in the thick of the fireworks, but this year was content tosit on the porch and watch.

This year’s celebration of our Independence was particularly meaningful, as we may be called to do it all over again.
