Just out of curiosity, why is the pronoun stuff a big deal? Just curious.

I'll use whatever pronoun someone wants me to use when referring to them, just as I'll use whatever name/nickname they want me to use. 1poorkid's best friend is named "Meghan", but she doesn't go by "Meghan". She has a nickname, and everyone calls her that. Fine with me. If she wanted to be called "they", it's not a big deal to me (she doesn't; that was just an example).

Heck, I'll go so far as to try to use the correct names of people who have an "American" name because we Americans can't be bothered to learn their proper name. Unless they particularly want me to use their American name, of course. Over my life I have had to try to master a few tongue-twisters, but that's my problem. Not theirs. (One year in grad school my roommate was Thai...first name was easy, last name was really long.)
