House Speaker Mike Johnson immediately reverted to conservative platitudes on gun control after the mass shooting in Maine.
JOHNSON: "At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It's not guns, it's not the weapons."
Unless I'm mistaken, humans have hearts in every nation on Earth but America is the only nation that has mass shootings pretty much every week, if not every day.
MAGA Mike doesn't have a very high opinion of what's in the hearts of average Americans.
The then the new Speaker has also traced all present ills to the countercultural upheaval of the 1960s and 1970s that undermined "the foundations of religion and morality," including no-fault divorce, the sexual revolution, radical feminism, and legalized abortion.
JOHNSON: "Collectively as Americans, we began to get together in growing number and thumb our noses at the Creator and say we don't believe that anymore," choosing instead to go down a path of "moral relativism." We are, explained Johnson, "living in a completely amoral society."
Umm.

"Collectively as Americans, we began to get together in growing number and thumb our noses at the Creator and say we don't believe that anymore,"
As religious organizations become increasingly political the QOP appoints a religion booster when taxing religious corporations is what's really called for.
The quiet ones like Johnson can be like snakes; you don't really notice them until the sink their poisonous fangs into your legs.

Johnson: "At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It's not guns, it's not the weapons."
Unspoken at the end of the day is that the murder rate is higher for blacks and latinos per the FBI stats. This dovetails right into an SBC credo that White Christian Nationalists are superior in every way to the ethnic minority impurities surrounding them.
If we were pure White Christian Nationalists the murder rate would be as low as Europe because we would be pure ethnically and Christian. I tell them the Japanese have the lowest among industrialized nations, relatively pure racially (arguable by some), so Shinto and Buddhism are superior to Christianity?
Then you get a strange argument that the Japanese are the Asian Whites, and the other arguments it's the racial purity, the isolation of the islands, the high suicide rate, and they aren't really a democracy (extension of Japanese feudalism.) It's always humorous when they argue that it's also because it's very difficult to own a gun there.

From The Maine Beacon: "In an eerie prelude just hours before the mass shooting in Lewiston, Collins and King both voted on Wednesday in favor of a controversial amendment to defend the gun rights of veterans. Critics blasted the amendment for making it easier for veterans with mental disabilities to get guns."
They should call it the 'Chris Kyle/Chad Littlefield Amendment.'
The murders of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield occurred on February 2, 2013, at a shooting range near Chalk Mountain, Texas. Kyle, a former Navy SEAL, and his friend Littlefield were walking down range to set up targets when Eddie Ray Routh opened fire and hit both of them. Routh was a 25-year-old Marine who had experienced post-traumatic stress disorder. The case attracted national attention due to Kyle's fame as author of a bestselling autobiography, American Sniper."
Kyle took Routh to the range for some therapeutic shooting. Brilliant! He put the rifle in the hands of the mentally imbalanced Eddie Routh.
Maybe it's time to stop listening to SEALS and ammosexuals on 2A issues?
Live by the gun...

If he is correlating evil with Americans that means he's trying to get some Liberal support by sounding like them.
(I dont know anything about him as I don't follow day to day politics have a country - that is NO LONGER a country and never will be. But I'd guess: He either sells out and goes Establishment-Google-Jockey soon.......OR he won't make it. Usually the most outspoken ones have interesting personal life issues that seem to come out.....)
