Apparently people trust FoxNews over CNN for its honesty in reporting.

Popularity has nothing to do with trust.

The National Enquirer was the largest circulation newspaper in the country, with headlines like 'UFO's Land on the White House Lawn'. Getting ratings is easy, if you don't care about reporting the truth. Partisan media has always had an advantage over non-partisan, and it has been so since the beginning of the Republic because they come with a built in audience.

For a time newspapers were guaranteed circulation if they included 'Republican' or 'Democrat' in their header. There are still some of those left, a historical artifact of the era.
