Anyone here ever rent a house/condo/etc. with a kitchen in either of these countries? Use AirBnB? VRBO?

I'm not sure if I will go through with this idea but with the terrible summer heat coming up in Arizona, I've toyed with taking a trip to one of these countries for a few weeks to escape the heat. Ideally staying outside of the big towns to avoid any big summer tourist crowds.

It will depend on whether I can find frequent flyer tickets and how motivated I am. As I get older, travel gets more stressful, especially with some intestinal issues that I deal with at times.

If so, what smaller towns would you recommend?

From what I've heard summer temps are never bad in either country. I'll have to check with a friend who has lived in England for a good chunk of his working career.

Thanks
Rich

We stayed in Dingle, Ireland for a few days a couple of years ago. It was absolutely stunning. Friendliest people in the world. Pubs with great food and live Irish music every night. Great hiking, and you can even swim in the sea.

We stayed at a hotel/B&B that also has a few apartments for longer visits, An Capall Dubh. The proprietors are lovely folks, as were the breakfasts. There are a good number of self-catering cottages and apartments there and nearby. It's a longish trip from Dublin by train and bus, but not awful. We might rent a car next time.

We've used VRBO many times, but avoid AirBnB. We've never had any serious issues, but then I do proper due diligence before booking. Avoid places with few/no reviews or that are managed by companies rather than individual owners. Read the reviews carefully, as well as the cancellation policy.
