“The system America’s founders built was designed to prevent the concentration of power in a few hands, but we have allowed that concentration to happen anyway, slowly, in plain sight, over decades,” Newsom writes. “We can reverse it together, as a country.”
It is extremely early in the presidential campaign cycle for a policy proposal — but comes as Democrats continue to embrace economic populism and moves against the wealthy. It also comes as California voters in November will decide on a billionaires’ tax after the governor and opponents of the tax late Thursday failed to reach a deal to keep it off the ballot.We've covered ad nauseum how bad and how unworkable an idea this is but since the democrats are now feeling pressure from the DSA on their left flanks...here comes the really stoopid ideas.

Seizing unrealized gains (which is what a wealth tax is) is the fastest way to send a negative incentive through the economy. It's galactically stupid.

All three districts are solidly blue, and so the Mamdani-backed candidates are expected to win. Avila Chevalier is as big of a fan of terrorism as you're going to find. Girlfriend is straight whackadoodle poison.
And she's headed to Congress: that district is so blue it will send anything to D.C. with a [d] after its name.

My fear continues to be that its not just Dems going full socialist.
It's more of the country.
As things get tougher---people WILL be closet embracers of socialism.
This is why I continue to feel we're on the wrong side---- somewhat----on anything from Medicare to Social Security to Affordable Care Act.
And in the meantime---we let 401K Liberals tout a "wealth tax" that won't affect them ......BUT they get to enjoy their greedy AMT reform. SALT restorations.
See if White Liberals ---are for totally living the FICA caps --not after 400K ----but lifting them at ANY threshold.
See if they want 100,00 more h1b VISAS a year----this as they lecture us on diversity.
