I am looking at allocating some capital into REITs. I have some basic knowledge but would like to learn more about how REITs are managed, and how their acquisition decisions and strategies are determined and disclosed. Any advice appreciated. TIA.

Investing in REITs by Ralph L Block is a great place to start. He posted regularly on the old fool boards and had many good insights. Unfortunately,he passed away a few years ago. His analysis is missed, as well as the stories avout his dogs.
He was a great guy and very knowledgeable about this sector.

I have not read it but I will say he was a world of help back when posting in the old Fool days.
That said, it would seem that real estate is a moving target, and I’m not sure how helpful it might be these days. Just think of the disruption Covid caused in the commercial real estate market a couple years ago, or how Amazon (and others) are changing the face of retail real estate. And there were REITs which dealt with commercial home builders, IIRC, and that market is a boom-or-bust kind of thing too, so while there is plenty to learn, I’m not sure that the lessons of Ralph’s time are directly applicable to today’s world.
But as I say, I don’t know, and perhaps there are good general principles that last for all (or most) time in it. Dunno. Wouldn’t surprise me, he was about as good as it got.
