It looks like the big cash reserves have emphasized the “safe haven” status in aa lofty and nervous market.

That misses the 2nd part of what you wrote in the sentence before, the "moving in the opposite": Look at the daily movements of both, S&P and BRK, and you will see that the inverse is equally true: If the S&P (and Nasdaq) is up, BRK is down (neutral at best). Very visible this and the month before, but already the case since the beginning of the year.
