It is a really tough job being one of Trump's sycophants.

It is tough enough that they are often tasked with having to defend the indefensible. Whatever obviously horrible comments Trump makes they are left to defend. It is tough and it often leaves them looking foolish, but it is the job they have chosen.

However, they have the even tougher job of trying to defend Trump's policies. Not only are the policies usually indefensible, but they are also incoherent, not well thought out, but are at the whims of whomever the President last spoke to. This means they often really look foolish because the line of faux BS they are trying to get everyone to buy can change at the drop of a hat.

Such as it has been with the tariffs. Sec. Bessent, Peter Navarro, Ms. Leavitt, etc. have all been spending the past few days convincing everyone that Trump's tariffs were the greatest thing since sliced bread. Tariffs were going to solve the deficit problem and make rainbows shoot out of unicorn horns. They were the greatest thing in the world.

Then just 3 market days later, Trump reverses himself and delays the tariffs for 90 days making all of these people look like fools. Trump was backing off his tariffs policy (why make everyone wait 90 days for unicorn rainbows???).

What I don't understand is why some people are willing to defend the indefensible and often look like an idiot defending the obvious idiocy. I mean I know why Sec. Bessent, Peter Navarro, Ms. Leavitt, etc. all do it. They are well paid to constantly be made to look like a fool (the clowns at Ringling Bros. circus are jealous of their pay) and they want to stay in the good graces with their boss hopeful to pick up some more crumbs.

But why do other people do it?

Take Dope, his initial take was that the tariffs were lunacy, but then he backtracked and decided it would be worth it to look like a fool in order to defend the indefensible. Why? He isn't getting paid to look like an idiot. It isn't going to get him any closer to Trump. Why does he do it?

It's pretty common, really. We most often see it in relation to religion. Blatant examples like pedophile priests. But even declaring the bible as some tome of great morality when it includes EX 21 (rules for slavery...also rife in Deuteronomy, and I think even a few other books like Numbers). It is indefensible, but I've heard apologists try (and fail) to defend it.

It seems that when people believe strongly enough, they can overlook and/or rationalize almost anything.

Club 401K seems to have had quite a time this week.

*Still* they don't want to think about maybe how they helped Trump win both times. And how to fix that going forward BEYOND just "winning" - which is inevitable.

So, well, get what they deserve.....hoepfully one day they want to change course.

They're also having to reconcile that Trump is trying to accomplish the stuff that they've said in the past they wanted :).

Starting a trade war with China, while simultaneously driving away South Korea, Japan and Australia…. Is not the way to confront China, especially given that China is better positione to win that trade war.

You’re reaching, Dope.

You’re reaching, Dope.

So you don’t want to re-industrialize middle America and reinvigorate the middle class? Boy, that’s not what I used to read on the Fool.

Of course I do, but Trump’s way is a pipe dream.

Let’s check back after some time has passed and see how his project is going.

***

They never did.

They wanted to be the ones responsible for making more and more Americans dependent. They've done it to a certain demographic for 60 years now. They've subjugated them, taught them that AIDS, COCAINE, SAT SCORES is all rigged against them. They've promoted poor family structures and created a self perpetuating cycle of hell in this constituency and every 4 years, some 401K'er goes to the neighborhood and belts out a We Shall Overcome is about it.

What they want is THEMSELVES to decide what station in life the middle class operates it. White 401K Liberals want to have dominion over middle class health, schooling, income, purchase habits, fuel consumption.

Club 401K values earnings-per-share more than re industrializing America.

BUT, on my side there are contradictions too. Club 401K's hypocrisy is at least thought out - they want to keep people down and now it's no secret- those greedy 401K libs love their profits on backs of cheap labor.

On MY side such contradictions ---are----sadly - out of stupidity and willingness to listen to a few cock-tards with a podcast or social media account replete with dumbass phallic looking microphone hitting them in their closeted gay face.

"America First!" - but cut Medicaid.

"America First" - but scale back Social Security levels of service.

"America First" - but let research be a casualty as we strip money due to DEI

"America First" - but if American child has a disability, why do we gotta make accommodations.

"America First" "Beat them Chinese" - BUT we don't like the CHIPS act that helps do precisely that (Thanks President Biden!)

"America First" but we don't like a law that prevents HMOs from rejecting people who want to buy insurance.

Hence we are seeing gradual decline *and* seeing emerging nations - promote their human capital the way we USED to, and have a slightly better culture that we USED to.

And in coming years, they'll progress at a quicker pace than us.

Explain to us first why you voted for this without blaming Libs, or club 401K, or the usual suspects. Explain how you missed this obviously huge flaw of Trump's, or why you would still vote for Trump.

Focus on the "trying to accomplish" and you'll have at least a partial answer.

Don't forget the factories that Trump showed up at, promised jobs wouldn't move out of the States, and then they did.
