Iraq plunged into nationwide blackout as US tells citizens to leave immediately

𝗜raq's Ministry of Electricity announced a complete shutdown of the national power system on Wednesday, with every governorate in the country losing electricity after all transmission lines and generating stations went offline simultaneously, according to the ministry.

A spokesperson for the electricity ministry confirmed that the country's power network had shut down entirely, though the cause of the grid failure remained unclear amid the rapidly escalating regional conflict.

The blackout compounds what has already been a catastrophic week for Iraq, as the country finds itself caught in the crossfire of the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran and retaliatory strikes by Tehran and its allied militias.

Fresh explosions were heard in the northern city of Erbil on Wednesday, according to an AFP journalist on the ground. Pro-Iranian armed groups, including the Saraya Awliya al-Dam (Blood Guardian Brigades), have claimed responsibility for recent attacks near Erbil, at the Al-Harir base, as well as at the American Victoria base in Baghdad.

WWIII here we come! Buckle up, as Steve likes to say.

To clear things up a bit, Erbil is the capital of the Kurdish region in norther Iraq. As reported yesterday, the US and Israel are trying to sucker the Kurds into attacking Iran.

We old phartz recall how Stuxnet, said to be a coproduction of the US and Israel, was used against Iran's uranium enrichment program, some years ago. The US and Israel are the most likely suspects to unleash a cyberweapon on Iraq, because the Iraqi government leans toward Iran.

Let's burn the entire Persian Gulf oil patch down, to enrich USian big oil. It's what they paid Trump the Magnificent to do. WTI over $78 this morning. iirc, WTI was about $20 lower in January. Brent is at $84.50. Lotsa, lotsa, money for big oil!
/sarcasm
