Little Marco must have signed it. Yeah, that’s it…
Perhaps in response to the growing outcry over last weekend’s rendition of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador under a legal justification a federal judge has found questionable, President Donald Trump last night told reporters that he didn’t sign the proclamation that set that legal process in motion.
When asked when he signed the proclamation invoking the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, by which Trump claimed that Venezuela is invading the United States by sending alleged gang members over the border, Trump answered: “I don’t know when it was signed, because I didn’t sign it.” Trump was on his way to his golf club in New Jersey, and seemed to be handing off responsibility for the declaration to someone else, perhaps Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “Other people handled it,” he said. “But Marco Rubio’s done a great job. And he wanted them out, and we go along with that. We want to get criminals out of our country.”

We want to get criminals out of our country.
If that's so, then he needs to arrange to self-deport to El Salvador. He's the Criminal in Chief.

Remember he set Rubio to be the fall guy at the address to Congress. It was specifically about Panama, but I can see Trump blaming him for anything that goes pear-shaped in foreign affairs.

Oh…. Next paragraph in Heather’s post……
But, as Matt Viser said in the Washington Post today, on Friday White House communications director Steven Cheung said Trump personally signed the proclamation, and his signature appears on the document in the Federal Register of official government documents. The gap between the two versions of events raises questions about who is in charge of White House policy.

President Donald Trump last night told reporters that he didn’t sign the proclamation that set that legal process in motion. ... Other people handled it,” he said. “But Marco Rubio’s done a great job. And he wanted them out, and we go along with that. What I find most ludicrous about this is that the White House later "explained" this by saying that Trump clearly meant that he didn't sign the original 1798 Alien Enemies Act! But it's quite obvious to even the dimmest of the dim (*) that Trump was talking about the EO, and not the original act. What a clown show we have running the country...into the ground.
from
https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/21/politics/trump-sign...Hours after the president made his comments on Friday, the White House claimed that Trump was not talking about whether he signed the document last week despite Trump responding to a reporter asking about the judge wanting “to know why the proclamation was signed in the dark, his words, and why people were rushed onto planes.”
“President Trump was obviously referring to the original Alien Enemies Act that was signed back in 1798,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in the statement. “The recent Executive Order was personally signed by President Trump invoking the Alien Enemies Act that designated Tren de Aragua as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in order to apprehend and deport these heinous criminals.”---
(*) I'm afraid that "The Dimmest of the Dim" is what we've got instead of "The Best of the Best".

So, I understand that Trump constantly floods the zone with shit.
Is it possible for 2,3,4, maybe 5 reporters to press him on these blatant lies that
come out of his mouth ?? It seems like there are NEVER any consequences for Trump being
a pathological liar. Why doesn't the Press go junkyard-dog on him. Pick one of his lies
and question him on it, and not back down when tries to blame Biden, or matches the lie
with another lie.
Trump gets carte blanche to spew lie after lie after lie. Even if the Press can't get
him to admit he lied, or was wrong, it seems like they could paint a picture of
Trump as the boorish, churlish, POS that he is, to America.
It's not just the Dems that gotta realize they're in a street fight, the Press has
to grow some balls, too. They need to confront Trump, and hard.

One thing we can count on from Trump...the buck never stops with him. Never. If there is serious blowback he will find a fall guy or gal. Always.
As he said in his first term after effing up the coronavirus response: "I don't take responsibility at all".
What a guy.

Behind the scenes? Putin seems to be in charge.

That's why it is a hard job. If they don't do their jobs, then they're useless.
Plus, lawsuits are flying. I believe AP has sued because of their exclusion. Pretty sure they'll win, based on the complaint I heard (various legal violations stipulated).

The only time I have seen that happen, and I applauded in my little living room, was when Nixon was in the late stages of Watergate. He was asked the question, deflected, and pivoted to another reporter. Who asked the same question, albeit with slightly different wording. He deflected again, and the next reporter did exactly the same thing.
It was a tour de force of what reporters should do, and in my entire life it’s the only time I can remember it being done. (Now Trump has stacked the reporters room with sympathetic, even sycophantic reporters, so he doesn’t even face any *actual* people to hold him to account.)
But it’s a nice fantasy.

They have bosses and that industry is fraught with dwindling money, so some have to do mass appeal. The days of well funded investigative reporters are gone. Plus, there's phenomena like Matt Taibbi - who jump ship to the other side - probably for the money. Who pays you governs what you write.

And so is our Democracy,lol.
He has to get some hard pushback. He's so fragile, he'd probably meltdown and crumble
in front of the camera. I hear MAGA's say that he is a good and moral man, lol, so
MAGA propaganda is working.

I doubt it. To do that you woukd have to have some shame, something he has never once exhibited.
At least Nixon had a reflective moment or two. It passed quickly, sure, but there was a moment.

Sad, but true.
Print media is dying. Has been for a long time. In olden times I thought that there should be no commercials allowed during news broadcasts. That providing news should be a condition of your license to broadcast. But "cable" changed all that. I don't think they need a license at all. Even less so now that streaming is taking over.

Is it against the law to usurp the authority of the POTUS? Not that it is likely that Pam Bondi would ever prosecute Cheung for it. But does it open Cheung up to hundreds of civil suits?
