The UCMJ obligates disobeying illegal orders. It's military law. However, the hazard for the 19yr olds that have to make that decision are great. If they disobey an order, and it is NOT found to have been illegal, off they go to federal prison (and a dishonorable discharge). On the other hand, individual soldiers can be held personally liable if they DO obey an illegal order.
Quite a quandary for someone so young who probably doesn't know much about law.

Very true.
However, unless that enlisted soldier was involved directly in something particularly heinous (for instance, putting bullets in the back of the heads of kneeling civilians and kicking them into mass graves), it’s doubtful they will be prosecuted.
The prosecutions will be of those who issue the orders- not only to modern day Einsatzgruppen, but also to to units participating in the repression of American citizens and conducting illegal wars.

ICE obeys -- they get power, salary. health insurance -- shit that those idiots couldn't get elsewhere so I certainly take your point.
One can hope :) I'd love to see chain of command and. civilian control destroyed or at least pierced.
