Short of time, no commentary.

The idea is the London Stock Exchange Group (only ~1% of whose operating earnings come from the actual London Stock Exchange), closed at 10100 pence. 52 week high 12185.
Would have been a better entry at 9200 four days ago, but what can you do?

https://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/sum...

Very short summary of the idea: they are thought of as the London Stock Exchange, but they're really an international data vendor with a very sticky subscription model, like Nasdaq.

The price is not conventionally cheap, but it's a firm one might want to read about. I think there is a price at which it would be a very good long term bet. This may not be it, but prices change.
Dividends are definitely not the best way to pick an investment, but FWIW they have risen at 13%/year for a while now.

An idea I've also just started researching, coincidentally. I liked it enough off the bat to take a small starter position despite the valuation, which looks... extended: 24x forward earnings for a business that has been growing about 10%/year. As Jim says, LSE isn't just an 'exchange' operator in the traditional sense. The data and analytics business is about half of earnings, with the other lines together making up the rest. Truly worldwide: they throw out the figure of 44,000 customers in 170 countries and the table of subsidiaries (10.1) runs to eight pages. A lot of recurring subscription revenue.

Even at this reduced price, PE is 53.

Is this a company growing earnings 25% or more to justified the high PE?

Well Jim, you have been served… 92£ is on the board today...

Now down to £87.66. About the same price as it was five years ago.
Revenue was about £2bn in 2020, now almost £9bn.
Operating income in the same period from £549m to £1.45bn.
Diluted EPS £1.57 in 2020, £2.88 in 2024, though of course it's not a straight line.

I'm not sure why SG&A has soared.

The lowest one-year price forecast among 15 astrologers (sorry, analysts) is £11.75, up 13.5%

Ironically these figures are from my paid subscription to FT.com, who get their data from...LSEG. So I guess I'm a client of theirs.
