Why? Because the US and its negotiating “partner” (Russia) are both on the wrong side of history and any agreement reached will be of the “Give Russia everything it wants” variety and sure as hell will not be a good deal for Ukraine. And Ukraine was not invited to this bone collecting exercise being held by two buzzards who wish to divide up Ukraine’s carcass.
This is an utter failure.

These Reagan supporters are just so tough on the Soviets.
Let's unilaterally disarm and do a nuclear freeze too.

That pretty much sums up the Trump presidencies.
What can explain the dedication and unceasing devotion of so many to this immoral, corrupt criminal, this narcissistic and destructive little demagogue?

I'm not sure why this is even being called a negotiation. Negotiation requires participation of the involved parties.
This exercise is only an adoration of Putin.

My read on this is a bit different.
The US is going to "help" Russia make a deal with Ukraine. Ukraine has been very clear in what they need and I suspect the only thing they are willing to concede on is Russia can have their land back, and can keep Crimea. The issue is somehow giving Putin the appearance of a win, which he will need. Perhaps the US can offer an end to their sanctions as the win for Russia, or something else? I think it is still a wait and see situation, but not nearly as stupid or bad as many believe.

I suspect this "help" will be about the same as saying Jesse James "helped" banks find flaws in their security systems.
Neither the banks nor Ukraine will think that this is "help".

Okay. What's the likelihood the Ukrainians throw the Russians all the way out of their territory?

It's Chamberlain..."there will be peace in our time".
Or the dividing-up of Poland between Stalin and Hitler.
Take your pick.
