It is sad that the MAGA crowd will go on believing that Trump sent the army into CA to turn a big spigot that then sent water from the Pacific Northwest to southern California. Such a load of bullshit. But earlier I posted the orgasmic messages from Trumpers about what a stunning victory this had been for Trump and how he had saved southern CA. All bullshit.
“The military did not enter California. The federal government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for three days. State water supplies in Southern California remain plentiful.” CA-DWR
these were federal water pumps, being maintained by the federal government — and you’ll never guess who’s responsible for maintaining federal infrastructure: the Army Corps of Engineers.
now, the ACE is technically part of the military, but it’s actually more military-adjacent.
"Do I need to join the Army to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers? No. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is primarily a civilian organization with 37,000 dedicated civilians and about 550 Soldiers."
so, sorry to burst MAGA’s bubble, but no, the military did not “enter California,” nor did they force anyone at gunpoint to open a ginormous fucking spigot. it was just a bunch of civil engineers in hardharts doing their regular old jobs.

Yep. The ACE does a lot of things. Goethals, one of the big engineers on the Panama Canal, was on loan from the Army Corps of Engineers. The engineers that I knew would tell me, "Yesterday, I could not spell engineer, today I are one."
