I dont follow the details ----but headlines mean to me one thing: SOMEONE IS LYING, AND PISSING IN THEIR PANTS -- vis a vis, is there a peace deal being discussed or not.
And frankly I trust the Iranians and Trump---equally. LOL
Maybe Trump is dealing with some ruler we dont know about.
Maybe he's subtly begging for a face saving deal.
MAYBE - Iran knows it holds the cards and frankly ---if they stay the course, the West ---will say uncle.
Another horribly planned adventure by Israel's mule America.

Another horribly planned adventure by Israel's mule America.
There is an op/ed piece, stashed behind the NYT's paywall, titled "A War For One Man".
The thrust of the article is the same as has been proposed on this board: that Israel does not want a negotiated settlement with Iran. Israel wants Iran tipped into failed state perpetual civil war.
from the net sifter, based on the article:
Based on reporting from The New York Times and related analysis in March 2026, Israeli officials and analysts have increasingly viewed a collapsed or failed state in Iran as a preferable outcome—or a "win"—to the alternatives of a nuclear-armed Iran or the survival of the current regime.
Failed State as Strategic Goal: Analysts have noted that for Israeli hardliners, bringing about a "total societal collapse" and "internal fragmentation" in Iran is seen as a way to remove the threat it poses to Israel, even if it leads to regional instability.
"Problem to be Managed": A New York Times opinion piece stated that a "prolonged period of chaos and bloodshed in Iran could be cast in Jerusalem not as a tragedy that might have been prevented but as a problem to be managed from afar".
Failed Uprising Strategy: The New York Times reported that Israel had specifically planned to ignite a mass uprising inside Iran in early 2026 by targeting internal security services, hoping that a weakened regime would fall.
Current Situation (March 2026): According to NYT reporting as of March 22-23, 2026, while the Iranian government was considered "weakened" after weeks of war, it remained intact, and the anticipated widespread rebellion did not materialize.
Division on Ending the War: Although some Israeli officials aimed to continue the war to further disrupt Iran, others raised concerns about the costs and the failure of the strategy to produce a rapid regime collapse.
As proposed on this board, the failed state would be kept in perpetual chaos by Mossad and CIA agents in country, constantly agitating the factions against each-other. The nation of 90M people, once wealthy and advanced. would be reduced to people wearing rags chasing each-other through the rubble with rifles, and, thus, incapable of obstructing the "greater Israel" project.

If memory is right - I thought Steve once you had told me you felt Israel wants a failed state in Iran. (if you didn't I rescind that comment)
I guess I felt that Israel wouldn't mind Iran being a real country---or at least sort of a real country that isn't lobbing bombs. Think Egypt. Think Turkey.
But then again, the Europeans have sabotaged many ancient civilizations into perpetual chaos, and eternal warring factions ----so it's a trie and true strategy.
And yes....it's easier to divide, and exploit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,tribalistic people. Different sects. Different languages. Different customs. One day generations form now when Asian college kids are touring the remains of DC or NYC, writing essays on how that American power had shopping malls and stock exchanges----maybe they'll need to wear bulletproofs as the hyphenated and socioeconomically divided remnants of that society are running around with rifles too---- because neither side was willing to look in the mirror. Oh well not my monkey, not my circus.
In the past I've criticized certain attitudes in halls of power at the United Nations. France. Halls of academia. Occupy Wall Street.
I humbly (which is rare).....apologize to all of them. I was wrong. Those people were right, and are right.

Turkey is next on the Israeli hit list.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reinforced this narrative Sunday, announcing plans to build a new “hexagon” of alliances aimed at countering what he called an “emerging ... Sunni axis.”
Speaking as he confirmed an upcoming visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Netanyahu said the proposed bloc would include countries such as Greece and the Greek Cypriot administration, both of which have strained relations with Türkiye.https://www.dailysabah.com/world/mid-east/israeli-...If the Israelis and US installed a Quisling, like "Prince Reza" in Iran, he would be overthrown eventually. Iran would be a rich and advanced country, twice enraged by Israel, and the US, subjecting them to brutal, repressive, dictators. Better, from Israel's perspective, for Iran to be a perpetual failed state, torn by internal strife.

Failed states----be it Afghanistan or Pakistan or Somalia----have always resulted in "surprise" things happening to the USA.
I'm sure "our good friend IsraeL" doesn't want such surprises happening to their good ally.
