Oddly enough, I was in this position personally once upon a time. I owned a sufficient quantity of a publicly listed firm, trading at such a high multiple of sales, that if I had sent them a cheque and the multiple held, my shares would have gone up more in value than the money I sent them. Ah, the internet bubble, great times.
No, I didn't do it. Over a certain ownership percentage the legally required lockup terms get more onerous, and I quite sensibly didn't believe the revenue multiplier would last anywhere near that long. It didn't, in fact the firm was bust in under two years.
