Depending on the local laws, I think blocking thoroughfares is illegal. Maybe not everywhere, but in most places. You have to get a permit, and the cops have to block off an area, if you plan to do that. So you can have your "march" through the streets as long as you got a permit (or equivalent). That obviously isn't a federal thing, but up to cities and towns.

No, that's definitely illegal (storming federal buildings). Don't know about taking over city blocks in Portland, but I doubt that is legal, either.

I also believe in the right to speak. People shouldn't be banned, cancelled, ostracized, fired, etc. It's happened courtesy more of the Left - but also courtesy of the Right too.

What I *used* to be bothered by is that people emigrate to America, and bring their own rivalries and own nation's interests with them.

Addendum. Massive traffic backup on the Golden Gate Bridge, going on right now.

Thousands? Where the hell did you get that idea? Looked like maybe two dozen people in 3-6 cars that just stopped shoulder to shoulder across three lanes of traffic on the bridge, got out, tossed their keys off the bridge and unfurled a banner. There were more police on the bridge than protesters. Doesn't take much to shut down traffic when hundreds of cars are forced to stop and there's no off ramp... and no way to get tow trucks around them. They eventually had to bring the tow trucks from the other direction and did their best to turn the farthest cars in back around and off one at a time.

This reminds me of the idiots that paint or destroy paintings in museums in protest. Almost anyone who might have been sympathetic to their cause hates these kinds of protests and they end up alienating people rather than gaining converts. Completely pointless.

Of course they'll be prosecuted. Stop rambling nonsense. And if 20 were arrested, that sounds like pretty much all of them (although it really only required 3-6 cars).

Definitely fine it annoying, in occasional cases possibly life threatening. Then again at least they weren’t smashing windows and taking a crap on the premises like happened on January 6. Or yes, with the WTO protests in Seattle a few years earlier. I’m completely against that sort of thing and encourage prosecution to the full extent of the law.

The best protest I ever heard of, which was not carried out, was when the NAACP wanted to protest Mayor Daley’s hiring policies in Chicago. They were going to get bunches of men to go into all the restrooms at O’Hare and stand in front of the urinals and never move . That would have gotten some attention, but most of it would have been, um, negative, I think.

It's all over every outlet, not just the competent ones. Though the competent ones likely are more accurate with less inflammatory language (either pro or con).

And the CHP has now arrested 28 people. I'm sure there is video, and they could very well be arresting more in the coming days.

Very disruptive, but apparently it was peaceful. Not that this excuses the crime(s) committed, but no resorting to violence. So I would guess charges are going to be some variety of obstructing traffic -unlawfully-, public mischief, and similar. No cops were killed (unlike Jan 6).
