“ Berkshire purchased about five million shares of Sirius XM for around $113 million, taking advantage of the recent drop in the stock of the satellite radio company. Sirius stock fell 4.3% Thursday to $20.58 after hitting a new 52-week low. It is down more than 60% this year.” From Barron’s article on the buys. We can’t be certain if Buffett was the buyer or T?

In the SEPT 10Q, brk disclosed it sold 20 % of its siri. Now, we are a buyer, again? Due to the lack of transparency, we have no idea IF,IF, Buffett stepped in and bought more OR, IF, Ted changed his mind?

Isn't it a classic newbie error to buy a stock at a new low, thinking that is has nowhere to go buy up?
Ugh.

We don't know who said that or how they would know that. Certain posters like to spam random things to the board with no context. Just ignore them.

“ Isn't it a classic newbie error to buy a stock at a new low,” I no longer listen to the annual Q and A lovefest like I did in the past but didn’t Buffett claim he made the Siri trade this year? Can someone clarity what he said with respect to the Siri trade? Thank you.

The SIRI trades are Ted Weschler. This is known through the filings. Buffett said at the meeting that the Paramount trades were his.

This is incorrect. You are probably not thinking of the 10Q which doesn't disclose anything about Sirius, but the 13F which shows institutional holdings.
Sirius merged with Liberty Sirius entities and had a reverse stock split in the quarter. Ted did not sell Sirius or Liberty Sirius shares.

I didn't see any selling there. All they disclosed is that there was a conversion of various classes of Liberty shares into SIRI shares followed by a 1 for 10 split. One of those Liberty tax agnostic conversions that many of their investors prefer.
