How is he going to pay his lawyers?

Campaign contributions. Or not pay them very much. He's never lacked for having some legal representation - he just doesn't have very good legal representation. But you can usually find some lawyer who's willing to take on a high-profile case that may not yield a lot of direct fees, but will yield some amount of publicity they can benefit from.

While having bad lawyers was catastrophic for Trump in the Carroll and NY fraud suits, the stakes are vastly lower here. The point of this lawsuit almost certainly isn't to win against ABC - or even to get the move the case along. All Trump needs is for the case to exist and just sit out there. And that's something that can be done with even mediocre lawyers, and without a lot of fees.
