“The Democrat Party gets weirder every day. There was a time when most of the Democrats I knew were tradesmen, roughnecks, farmers, and union guys. They were tough dudes, often veterans, and told some of the bawdiest jokes I’ve ever heard. Now Democrats can’t define what a dude is; they want to wokify the military into some gaudy pageant for drag queens who fear guns; and they’ve replaced “politically incorrect” humor with stern lectures. No wonder American men are fleeing the Democrat Party like it’s a sexually transmitted disease.”
SNIP
“That’s probably why so many of those older Democrat roughnecks have transitioned to the Republican Party. As one wrote to me, “This is the only transition I’m up for.” There was a pretty funny joke after that, but I’ll save it for a more casual venue. We Republicans may be politically incorrect, but we do have common decency and good manners!”
SNIP
“You put all this leftist-engineered self-destruction together, and it becomes obvious that the West will not exist if Democrats and their Antifa friends get their way. That’s probably why young people -- especially men -- are bolting the Democrat Party. Nobody with a brain votes for his own subjugation.”
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2025/08/the_m...Can it be true then? Dem posters are sissies, having gone WOKE and are becoming commies?
It certainly seems that way to me. Sissy posters here just whine and cry about President Trump
and fellow conservative posters instead of putting forth constructive ideas to to stop the bleeding....and how to bring back the glory days of the democratic party reaching way back to John F Kennedy.

Some union guys, yes, the rest - no. Tradesman, roughnecks, farmers, etc., were mostly Republican for most of my life. There was a time when we weren't so divided. It's not incredulous that they don't like immigration, but that they have no appreciation of NATO, etc., and are more than willing to be led to be surrender monkeys - that's new.

Such deep thoughts.
How ironic that that's what passes for critical commentary from a publication called 'American Thinker.' "American Thinker" must be sponsored by BRAWNDO.
No need to write a new answer... the correct response was 10 posts back:
To be clear only uneducated, low-income men want expediency and racism:
That is the only demographic Trump actually won...
Trump lost college educated women 61% to 37%.
Trump lost non college educated women 53% to 45%.
Trump lost college educated men 49% to 48%.
Trump won non college educated men 61% to 37%. (MAGA)
Throughout history, tyrants have understood that their major enemy is an educated citizenry.
Slaveholders prohibited the enslaved from learning to read. Nazis burned books.
Trump, Putin and Xi attack Universities, censor books and silence the free press. Ignorance is the handmaiden of tyranny.

Yeah, the headline is rubbish. But there is an underlying truth, as pointed out several times on this board. MAGA overwhelming won uneducated young men. And, unfortunately, that's a bigger demographic than it should be.
There are sources that help deal with this sort of situation (i.e. a grain of truth covered in yellow journalism). I've been seriously considering getting Ground News. I don't have them yet, and this isn't an ad for them. But they allow you to view how a given story is being reported from different perspectives. They also have a "blind spot" feature that shows you stories you might not otherwise see at all.
I am coming to the conclusion that one needs a resource like that if you really want to be well-informed, no matter what part of the political spectrum you are on. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is that I don't like reading about the Felon, and he dominates almost every news story these days.

OnepoorGuy another respectful suggestion.
I understand ---and yes stats back you up.
But "uneducated men" -- why not call them "traditional men" or "working men" ---yes, ask bush and reagan and Trump ---how you talk to people matters.
Also, broken record i know. Do you feel working men will come to your side with "Garcia!" - or will working men come to your side when their new ACA premium shocks them. Read the quiet discussions on Reddit --- where working men are posting "my mom is losing her insurance next year it's going from $500 to $1100".....you can do "Garcia!" and that guy might vote against you - or stay home. OR you can stop he/him, stop Garcia, go full force into his wallet......and win his vote.
Oh, it is possible.
Obama won twice.........

Shrug, you’re just another reason why clear thinking young men are leaving the
democratic party and becoming proud Republicans.
Not only that the same is happening with the Presbyterian Faith,

“Presbyterian Church (USA), the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States, may dip below 1 million members by the end of the current year, according to a recent report.
The PC(USA) Interim Unified Agency released its annual report on church statistics, which found that the denomination lost nearly 49,000 members in 2024, going from approximately 1.094 million members in 2023 to approximately 1.045 million members last year.”
The democratic party and the Presbyterian Church are bleeding members, both including me.

losing their way.

Of course. But I'm not running for office. I identify the target demographic I'm talking about as reported in the statistical breakdown. If I was running for office, I would use much gentler terminology. I wouldn't talk about "basket of deplorables", for example. I don't think "traditional men" really says anything. Traditional of...what, exactly? "Working men" is pretty vague. I was a working man, though white collar (and highly educated). Blue collar? That at least is a bit more specific.
Do you feel working men will come to your side with "Garcia!" - or will working men come to your side when their new ACA premium shocks them.
If you use both talking points, you have your bases covered. As long as you aren't taking contradictory positions, it should be all good. If those men are at all interested in justice, mentioning Garcia won't repel them. We can campaign on more than one issue, IMHO. But I do agree that hitting "wallet issues" hard is vital. Who said "it's the economy, stupid"? Bush Sr? Yeah, that needs to be a focus. Especially if the other side is weak on that (Reps just offer tax cuts after tax cuts, but ACA premiums will hit home for maybe 40 million people**).
**That's roughly the number who benefited from ACA, if memory serves.

Because when you are trying to analyze voting patterns by education level, “traditional” or “working men” tells you nothing.
Lots of college graduates are “traditional” and/or “working men”. And lots of non-college graduates are not “traditional” or “working men”.
What is clear is that if you are a man and you didn’t go to school after high school, you were more likely to have voted for Trump in ‘24 than anyone else. And further, you were a member of the only educational bracket among men with a majority that did so.

To quote
“President Donald Trump won the White House in large part by winning the handful of swing states nationwide, including Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. And one of the reasons that happened was how independent voters cast their ballots.”
The Independent voter helped put Trump in the White House.
Come 2028, President Trump needn’t worry about the Independent voter one way or the other.
