{{ Not quite an investing topic but would people here recommend delaying non-critical surgeries until medicare has started? Or is it better to get it done before medicare starts? }}

I waited about a year until Medicare started for me to get a couple of skin cancer lesions removed. It would have cost about $1,500 out-of-pocket under my Obamacare Plan where I had a $5,000 annual deductible. It was about $200 out-of-pocket under Medicare. I was certain that the lesions were basal or squamous cell cancer rather than a melanoma.

It also interesting to note that cancer diagnoses spike at age 65 because people are reluctant to see a doctor due to unlimited price gouging pre-age-65.
