And of course more children die of gun violence in red states compared to blue states.
The data shows a clear trend of higher firearm mortality rates among children and teens in Republican-leaning states:
Mississippi, a red state, had the highest firearm mortality rate at 33.9 per 100,000.
Other red states with high firearm mortality rates include Louisiana (29.1), Alabama (26.4), Wyoming (26.1), and Alaska (25.2).
In contrast, blue states have significantly lower firearm mortality rates. Massachusetts, a blue state, had the lowest rate at 3.4 per 100,000,
followed by other blue states like Hawaii (4.8), New Jersey (5.2), and New York (5.4).

Overall, 15 of the 20 states with the highest firearm mortality rates are led by Republicans.
