I placed a security freeze on all my Fidelity accounts. No money can be withdrawn (except for routine payments to my credit cards, health insurance, etc.) unless I go to Fidelity, uncheck the account, make the payment and then re-freeze the account. It takes a few more minutes but I think the security is worth it.
We do this as well, since we only deposit in to Fidelity and don't yet withdraw. We get notification of ANY deposit or withdrawal from all of our institution holdings, as small deposits are often the way a fraudster checks to see if they have a valid number. Check your statements every month. If fraud happens, your institution is not liable to reimburse you if you don't catch the transaction within something like 30 days.
Our information has been on the dark web since there has been a dark web. Have had credit freezes on our credit for over 30 years due to theft of my information from paperwork on a home purchase in the early 1990's, with 3 credit cards opened in my name and maxed out. THAT took several years to sort out! That was compounded further by Equifax and other hacks that were out of our control. Be aware credit freezes don't always work and dealt with a bank opening a joint account in my name and a fraudulent actor, which I only found out when I coincidentally went to that bank to get a signature verification document and they checked all the accounts with me. I should have only had a credit card with them, seldom used as our back up card. The account had been opened on line using my info.
Good list.
