The problem with impeaching and removing him is the order of Presidential succession.

If there were only, what, 12 Senators, and a few Representatives with enough smoldering outrage at what Trump et al are doing, they could band together and impeach Trump, Vance and Johnson in short order. Then when Grassley becomes President, they just have to threaten to impeach him unless he tows the "moderate Republican" line. I suppose being "primaried" is still a threat, unless Musk's millions can be neutered by threats to cancel all his government contracts.
