We need to just be as open to Habla Espanol as Quebec and France is to English.As it happens, I watched a couple videos of a native French speaker, in Paris, comparing Québécois and Cajun to metropolitan French. One thing she noted is that, in France, the tendency is to retain an English title, for instance a movie title, but say it with a French accent, while in Quebec, the tendency is to literally translate the title into French. I remember, several decades ago, France announcing a program to halt the invasion of English into the language by mandating the use of French substitute words. Apparently, the program didn't work out.
There is a neat part at about the 8:40 minute mark, where a French emigre to Quebec is applying for work in a cafe, and the girl looking at his resume starts explaining that the "English-French" words he uses on his resume don't mean anything in Quebec.
