Zimbabwe has prohibited the export of raw lithium from its mines so it can cash in on value addition and stop losing billions of dollars in mineral proceeds to foreign companies.

This has potential implications to the EV automobile industry and others who rely heavily on lithium for their products, as Zimbabwe has sufficient reserves that it expects to support about 20% of the world's demand for the mineral.
