The State of Global Fertility

A recent report from South Korea reveals that the country's fertility rate dropped to a record low of 0.72 births per woman in 2023, which is significantly below the replacement rate of 2.1.

Similarly, Japan recorded a 5% decline in births to a record low of 758,631 in 2023, but the birth rate remained at 1.26%. These numbers represent a significant trend of declining fertility rates across the globe.

Approximately 90 countries are not growing independently of immigration, and this trend is most prominent in better-developed nations in Europe, the Americas, and Southeast Asia. Experts attribute this decline to increased access to contraception and more women entering the workforce. Bonneville Research

Now if only this trend could extend to those paternalistic countries where women's rights are repressed.
