My immediate boss at the pump seal company was like that, a complete screw-up. He would get a project completely frelled, then drop the file on my desk, and go out of town for a week, while I cleaned up his mess.
One day, he and the national sales manager (Tom) were barking about one of the field reps, Adil, supposedly trying to keep all the omission on a project for himself. Hearing Adil's name, I asked "the one in Marcus Hook?" They said "how do you know where it is?". I said, "I asked him".
Tom ended up as CEO of that company. When it was rolled into Flowserve, which is headquartered in Houston, Tom was invited out, instead of to Houston.
