Charlie Gasparino heard/spread rumor WEB looking at BA. Now that’s an elephant.
It’s been said many many times BRK doesn’t do turn-arounds. I’m taking this as just a fun rumor to ponder.
Anyone heard anything similar?

I was in Omaha chatting with many folks more informed than myself and I did not hear that rumor. I would be quite surprised.
One fellow there speculated that the secret position may be Morgan Stanley or Mitsubishi financial, but I had read that a couple months ago.
One more bit of good news. There were thousands of international attendees and often folks in their 20s or early 30s making the pilgrimage- so at least compared to the last two years, there definitely seem to be more of an international, younger crowd which I thought was interesting and adds hope given some young folks’ fascination with Crypto, Robinhood, day trading. Hope this trend continues. I still saw plenty of blue hairs and a couple fellas in overalls which put a smile on my face as well!

ould you elaborate on your comment?
I understand there is a greater degree of respect given to the wisdom of age in the eastern hemisphere than we do in the west. And, to a similar degree for Europeans re Buffett and Munger. A greater focus on learning from the masters. This seemed to come through in the questions. More admiration, maybe less exposure to past Buffett and Munger teachings than us locals?
Not surprising. We.ve been listening maybe a lot longer than they have.
Your insights?

Eh...BA is likely in the too hard pile. Hard pass.

I don’t have much to add but I agree with your comments and generalization about the Far East’s respect, admiration and knowledge base wrt these sages. Of course, we are seeing the most passionate and a talented group of young foreigners at the meeting. Saw lots of young folks from Hong Kong, China & Singapore & I know Charlie especially has praised the Eastern culture, values, discipline and work ethic often seen and really loved the leadership and success of Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew.
Looking back on my own experience in the Southeast, I had no real teaching in H.S., college or grad school on investing and business, as I went down a science based career path with no economics, accounting or Finance. Even the compounding and relatively advanced math I learned seemed never to tie into real life & how to save, invest, avoid CC debt and defer gratification. I wish young Americans would receive more exposure to the basics starting in at least middle school and be better prepared for everyday life and appreciate some of the lessons from a few great investors, innovators and businessmen. Even those simple charts/graphs which show if you save X per month over X years with compounding it will be worth Y after so many years.
Fortunately, like many here, I just followed my Dad’s very simple formula of study, work hard, live modestly, save, buy ownership pieces of really good companies and watch it compound. Most of this was learned thru observation, self-learning & making lots of mistakes with real $. Finding Warren’s letters was truly like discovering an overflowing wisdom pot of gold- I just wish they had surfaced 20 years earlier!
I wish I could shed more insight and educate & motivate more American youth to appreciate treasures like WEB & CTM. Yet even own kids would rather play video games than listen to me try to teach life lessons and apply their principles! :)

One of Warren and Charlie's requirements for buying a business was that it have capable, honest management already in place.
I don't think BA meets that requirement.
