I found this surprisingly long and detailed article on Pilot Company (Pilot Flying J) to be interesting. It covers everything from the big store remodel push to the installation of charging infrastructure, etc. Pilot Co. is a pretty big company and Berkshire will start consolidating Pilot sometime this year when they take their ownership up to 80%.

I'd like to see Berkshire buy Buc-ees. My rough estimate of the Florence, SC store opened last year is $700M revenues and likely more than $85M in bottom line profits from that one (1) store. Buc-ees is literally hoovering all that money away from other Interstate stores within a 100 mile radius. If Berkshire likes Pilot Flying J, it would likely love (love vs like emphasized) Buc-ees. The two founders are still running Buc-ees and are in their late sixties-early 70s. The kind of owner-operators Warren embraces. Forty-four (44) locations and still plenty room to continue growing their interstate footprint.

Nice find! I like the vision and focus on customer service and heading to where the puck will be. I have been in a few around Atlanta and they often appear dated.

What is your estimate on the upcoming 41% piece purchase price to bring us up to 80%? Sure, it's chump change for BRK but curious nonetheless. I estimated potentially around $4-5B??? but have not seen any estimate thus far. Thanks.

I love this idea. I got inducted into the cult of Buc-ees on a road trip
and now have to stop whenever I see one. These places are money magnets of the
first water.
