Again, it has nothing to do with banning free speech…… unless the government starts arresting people for what they say about it.
Whoever did it should be arrested and prosecuted for shooting him, but also for violating Kirk’s right to say what he thinks, regardless of how crazy I may personally think it is.
So either we say we stand for the constitutional right of free speech, or we don’t. The government must enforce that right impartially, or that right doesn’t exist.

The big one, within our memories, is how #43 leveraged 9/11 to help justify his invasion of Iraq. I had coworkers who were sure the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqis, when none of them were. I saw Dick Cheney still propagating the "Prague meeting" narrative about Atta and an Iraqi intelligence officer, a couple years *after* that story had been discredited by the FBI, Czech intelligence, and by the Iraqi officer in question, who was in US custody.
Remember how many PNAC members were in the #43 regime? Recall that PNAC called for the invasion of Iraq?

He had a huge following, especially with the young people. If the assassin thought
he was shutting down a movement he was wrong. I believe all the more now there will be

No. I was on a road trip today and listened to three solid hours of the MSNBC coverage on the radio. No one came across as anything other than seeing this as an awful tragedy that shouldn't happen and representative of the difficult times that our country is having with political divisiveness. As Nicole Wallace said many times, "I would disagree with Charlie Kirk on virtually every issue but I would defend until the end of time his right to say what he believes without being subject to violence".
There was nothing celebratory, nothing other than "This is a dark day in our nation's history". I'm pretty sure there's nothing I or anyone else can say that will shake certain people from their belief that they know what is truly in certain other people's minds, so I'm not even going to try, but I saw it very differently.
Even the Matthew Dowd comments that were apologized for, as I read the quotes, I think were 100% on the money, at the face value of what is being reported. “I always go back to: Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which then lead to hateful actions,” the analyst told Tur. “And I think that’s the environment that we’re in — that people just, you can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts that you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment that we’re in."
Nowhere does he say that Charlie Kirk deserved what happened, or that Charlie Kirk's comments and inflammatory style (so I'm told--I've never actually seen him) were the only contributing factors, but that they contributed to the "environment" that we're in--which is one of many instances of violence from extremists on both sides. What is it about what he said that requires an apology? I'm genuinely having trouble here.

I teared up when I saw a pic of Kirk and his wife playing with their kids. I've stated my views before. Gunsafes everywhere, where the combo can be changed to the new renter/owner too. Possibly tax credits. We could limit available guns to 100 or so each of rifles, shotguns, and handguns. We are awash with guns, and don't have a cooperative society like Japan. No matter what action you take, you know there will be a litany of that won't do anything from the gun lobby, but they've careened us into this politically violent storm with stagflation looming on the horizon. And they'll never admit they pulled the American car over to the right and parked it in the middle of a recessionary war zone with a wannabe dictator as President.
