Popped down to Charlotte, NC to share Christmas with our sons. Unfortunately DH got the flu down here, and we had not packed the usual medicine chest for the trip. Among the missing was a thermometer, but I did have an instant read meat thermometer with us for the lamb roast I cooked at the rental for Christmas dinner. As long as you are careful not to skewer yourself, it actually works pretty well to check for fever!
We are really enjoying Charlotte. Great food, great jazz, wonderful people. Stores are amazing and airport is decent for those flying in. Lots of cultural events that we will get advance tickets for next time we come, and wonderful walkable neighborhoods. Driving isn't too bad, even for a city. Strongly considering relocating, though I am certain I won't tolerate the Summer, but the Winter is great.
I guess the medicine cabinet is back on the pack in the car list. Didn't need it the past 5 trips, and took it off the list this trip. Happy to take things with us just to prevent our getting sick!
