Yes.

BUT in a civilization without a common culture or basic common civics appreciation, and a society that due to various socioevconomic trends is Balkanizing, the various tribes will embrace their Muftis no matter what.

And the Muftis are smart on all sides.

In this case. a well educated Governor - and others like him want to be the next President and they see command of the MAGA caste as the route to that goal. So they pander and embrace the 'i'm stupid, and proud of it" motto.

This shit has happened in 3rd world civilizations for centuries.

It's your turn now - self caused.
