[stockcharts] would seem to indicate that NH/NL is still bullish?

The NH-NL indicator reported here by lohill uses the value calculated by gtr1 for the BCCs (Bear Catchers), not the EMA(9).

Stockcharts.com shows the 9-day exponential moving average [EMA(9)] of Nasdaq New Highs minus New Lows to be positive, but the 10-day Simple Moving Average [SMA(10)] has turned negative. I don't know exactly how Robbie calculates his NH-NL value, but I suspect it's closer to using SMA(10) than EMA(9).

Bear Catcher II (NH/NL) Revisited

I got the best results using a smoothed version of the signal that calculated the ratio between a weighted sum of the daily
count of highs over the last 9 days and a weighted sum of the daily count of lows over the last 9 days, where both weighted
sums used weights of 9, 8, 7, ... 1.
For the sake of demonstrating the function sgwsum, I will rebuild that signal using the 2012 GTR1 backtester.

Barcharts allows you to calculated NH/NL using a Weighted Moving Average. It is negative, while the Exponential moving Average is slightly positive.

As has been discussed in the past, the count of eligible stocks for this indicator varies with the source: GTR1, Stockcharts, and Barcharts count in somewhat different universes of NASDAQ tickers. For that reason alone -- in addition to the difference between EMA and WMA -- they will sometimes disagree. In my experience the disagreements are in the noise, and do not last long.

Stockchart.com's NH-NL indicator is now negative (bearish), as is gtr1's NH-NL value used in the BCCs.
