I find this amusing. (Legal Eagle) Alina Habba is amazingly incompetent. Trump could probably afford much better counsel, but chose a sycophant. And paid the price.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASU_wpcB-1II have to wonder how Habba still has a law license. She's probably a worse lawyer than I am, and IANAL.

Trump is so shallow...he no doubt thought Habba would look good on TV.
When she comes to get paid, he might just say: c u next Tuesday.

She needed to be instructed by the judge on how to properly get evidence admitted? Preserve a basis for appeal?

"Preserve a basis for appeal? "
I pondered that yesterday, thesis being that Trump wants to lose the case so he can claim it's proof of 'deep state' 'rigged elections' etc.
So, he hired an attractive mouthpiece who would regurgitate the talking points his base wants to hear and lose the case.
It's the appeal part I don't understand. Is hiring an idiot grounds for appeal?

Legal Eagle touched on that. It does not appear he can appeal based on his incompetent lawyer. Or at least, it would be rejected if he did, as I understood him to say. He could appeal on the basis of excessive punitive, but that likely also would fail as they have a guide for "excessive", and this judgment doesn't hit that mark.

I think the video you posted earlier by Legal Eagle (and other talking head lawyers I think I've seen in the past week) concluded that there were numerous points in the trial and this post-verdict, penalty-finding phase where a defense lawyer would have to put objections on the record in court to preserve any basis for appeals. Habba failed to do so in every instance, instead merely huffing in frustration that court in the real world didn't work the way she thought court did in beautiful people world and taking her seat.
The frustrating thing is that even though Trump's counsel left him zero room for LEGITIMATE appeal, the process still has to be followed to provide the illusion of letting him FILE an appeal which then triggers more opportunities to litigate each micro-step of the process rather than having the court jump ahead to the end of the story and immediately rule he has no grounds, stop the delay tactics, and force a final payment.

OK, so even though no evidence has been preserved for appeal, he gets to file an appeal? And are you saying he get to file on every ruling against him made during the appeals process? So he'll file an appeal on the ruling that no evidence has been preserved, and an appeal on the ruling itself, are there any others? And then you appeal the rulings against you in appeals?
