The business model of putting ads in text-based results is ruined right now, and forever, by existing free tech.
I'm a little skeptical of this prediction because most people are just not going to try and figure out how to set it up. Even if it was as simple as "click here and download this Entirely Trustworthy "AI" Ad Blocker", they still wouldn't. I think this is a safe prediction because for about the last 15 years people have been able to "click here and install this Entirely Trustworthy JavaScript Ad Blocker" (at least on desktop where browser extensions are supported), and still relatively few of them do it.
Similarly the delightful F. B. Purity browser extension actually makes Facebook marginally tolerable (mostly by adding filtering and the ability to disable the algorithmic feed), and it still never got a huge amount of adoption. The author seems to have fallen off the Internet which may mean the end to the little bit of FB I still use, largely to post about my Cats to an audience of a dozen or so Cat-loving friends. Of course they had to deal with periodic legal threats and endless tweaks to the UI by FB to try and disable the extension, which must have been very tiresome.
