Is there any amnesty down at the border now? Has that all been completely gutted as this article from Amnesty International states?

I realize border crossings are down, but are we completely disregarding the Geneva Convention now? It isn't clear to me what the new process at the borders is. I have a friend that insists that Trump cancelled amnesty, but I can find no EO or direction to eliminate it. Maybe I'm using the wrong lingo in my searches.

I think the word you are looking for is asylum. There is a Trump EO that dictates refugees seeking asylum must wait in Mexico, until they have a hearing in the US. Trump put this policy in place during his first term, but it was ruled illegal by the courts. We will see if it sticks this time around...

The linked article is about asylum, I just used amnesty by accident, probably because it's by Amnesty International. I am looking for something current - since he took office in 2025. I know about remain in Mexico, but that's all history - I'm looking for now - 2025. I have never seen a current 2025 EO that eliminates asylum. But a MAGA fellow says Trump eliminated asylum at the border.

So far the only thing I've found is that Amnesty International article. Maybe Dope knows and can link to it.
