That is not the only way it could happen.

Instead, the cost of doing an x-ray could drop by a factor of 10-100, and we could find that many more are used in diagnosis of various things than was done when they still cost a fornicating fortune.



Yes, this is what I also imagined might happen, in the second half of my post. Cheaper = more people who can afford it, more use cases, including double reading, more screening (lung cancer for instance), more annual mammographies instead of every 2 years, more virtual colonoscopies, wider range of patients offered screening, etc.
