State of the economy?
State of consumer confidence?
We went grocery shopping yesterday morning at 10:00. Parking lots were crowded at Walmart, Kroger, and Sam's Club.
About 12:30 we decided to get lunch, went to Longhorn Steak House. The parking lot was quite full. At 12:30 on a Tuesday.
No wait for a table. I counted about 8 empty tables. Seven after we were seated. 3/4 of the tables were occupied. On a Tuesday after prime lunch time.
Last time I was in that same Longhorn was 2024, also slightly after noon. Three table were occupied. The whole place looked like a ghost town. There was more staff than customers.

I'm definitely seeing a stock-market wealth-effect. Or is it a late-stage bubble effect?
A friend who didn't ever comment on markets is suddenly feeling like he has a lot more disposable income.
He commented: "Stocks have done great this last year, we're looking at Europe and a cruise".
Stocks did great the last three years, but he wasn't inclined to notice the first two.

Well, I'm currently on a 4 1/2 month cruise. That said, while I took six-month cruises in both 2022 and 2023, I only cruised 4 months during 2023, so maybe this year is trending upwards?
I can't say any of them were linked to the stock market's rise, but my taking a reasonable amount of profits during late 2025 were.

If your observation was just this past day or two, it might only be people stocking up for the big snow storm that’s on the way. Maybe take look again in another week or two.
